New business development

Starting and growing a new business is a particular challenge. The biggest challenge in these business situations is balance. The balance of managing cash. Cash flow is the first priority for any new and growing businesses and is the most common reason why new businesses fail. A cash flow budget is critical, and yet is so difficult to prepare when there is very limited business information to work with.

The balance of managing working capital. Converting cash to capital is an art and requires knowledge and skill as well to understand the funding demand to grow the business along with the financial management of a business to control the expenses in a start up.
The balance of production and sales. A danger for any new business is overproducing to a slow market or under producing to a hungry market, losing market credibility, and discerning where the market is and how it is moving.

Finally, the balance of priorities; it is so easy to blow funds on costs that are not required, and then have insufficient funds for critical growth elements. Understanding that is the single most important aspect of success or failure.
